I initially became interested in going green when I got pregnant with my first child. I’m a health educator, so I am already interested in health and wellness. Going green just felt like the next step to me. In preparing for a natural childbirth I began to think more and more about what I put in my body, pregnant or not. So, I got a couple of green books and have never looked back. I am happy to be living a little bit greener!

While living green has always been fascinating to me, I thought it was too expensive or time consuming to put into practice on a daily basis. Sure, I recycled cans, bought organic occasionally, and let my plastic grocery bags pile up to mountainous proportions instead of throwing them away, but that was about it. The arrival of my son prompted me to rethink my relationship with the world around me. I began to seek out practical, cost-conscious ways to enjoy a happy, healthy, environmentally-responsible life. Some efforts are more successful than others, but it’s always a great adventure.

This is an ongoing learning process for me. I will never have infinite time or resources, but I do have the power of personal choice. It’s amazing that even the tiniest daily decisions can have a huge impact on our world, for better or worse. I choose better.
